Survival Kit for a Traveling

Pay attention how much you prepare, is that it may be long or short journey, you can never estimated about outer influences that can provoke problems. Wherever the street takes you, should be the standard to take the survival kit. Even though your survival kit should be adapted to your characteristic environment heading, all the emergency kit should handled the basic needs following.

Water

Water is a vital factor, you should bring enough water supply. one gallon of water may be enough for one person may be spent in a week or less. If a gallon of water was inconvenient for you, another alternative is a water purification tablets, Water purification tablets, commonly chlorine or iodine you can get them at the drugstore or camping store. also Sodium hypochlorite You can find this in household bleach. 2–3 drops per quart (liter) of water.

Food

Emergency food you need to bring is a diversified food mild and can be inserted into a backpack. food you bring should be able to meet the needs for 2 to 3 days. food for the short term that can meet the energy needs are: granola bars, sealed freeze-dried foods and military MRE's (Meals Ready to Eat) and if you need a durable food you can carry 1 kilogram of rice and sugar to increase your energy for survival. rice is the food that is easy to cook, stayed put in the can give a little water and heat into the fire and your food is ready. You should know that the rice will taste sweet in the mouth even with no additional seasoning.

Fire and Light

Fire is very important to keep warm, cook meat and even boil water to purify. I suggest to take a lighter and scrap rubber tires. Why rubber tires? this is because the rubber tires can not be influenced by air humidity and can not be wet. So even though the climate is wet, you can still start a fire with the help of this tire rubber.
For light sources that usually comes from a flashlight, I encourage you to buy a diversified LED flashlight. This type of flashlight has a strong light and energy saving can be used for days or even weeks.

First Aid

which must be in the first aid kit box are : alcohol and antibiotic pads, assorted bandages and pain reliever pills such as aspirin . Next I will write a few items you will need: Antiseptic Soap, Painkiller tablets (ibuprofen or acetaminophen), powerful painkillers such as Demerol (meperidine), bandages and antiseptic ointment, butterfly sutures, prescription medicine, surgical blades and triangle bandages. Pack all medicines in waterproof, airtight containers.

Shelter and Storage

A good shelter are resistant to wind, water, either rain or humidity. Do not forget also that soil humidity can make you catch cold. The parachute material is the best material that can withstand wind and water and also good for warmth.

Signaling and Navigation

To give signals there are two ways through visual and aural. The visual way are: a signal mirror that has a hole in the middle to see planes passing, LED Flashlight, Flares, burning wet leaves, causing thick smoke and brought SPOT satellite messenger. while for aural way you can use plastic whistle. but plastic whistle is only useful if the rescue had to be around you and about a distance of about 500 meters.

Navigation is the most complex because it must require training. using a compass is not as easy as you imagine. The north shown on the compass has a magnetic declination. So always take a map and compass, and consider using a GPS as an aid.

Survival Video Part 3

Survival Video Part 4

Ray Mears tests his own courage as he takes part in the RAF's three-week survival course in Cornwall. He joins a team of 20 jet pilots, navigators and helicopter crew as they learn to survive at sea and on land.

RAF aircrew can find themselves in action almost anywhere in the world, flying over desert, sea, jungle, woodland or the Arctic. If they are shot down behind enemy lines, they have to be able to survive in every environment. "In a few seconds, a fighter pilot can be catapulted from their jet worth millions of pounds into a Stone Age situation where they're surviving hand to mouth," says Ray.

From learning to survive on water, the course moves to Dartmoor where Ray spends a week living rough in shelters, learning how to trap squirrels and birds, light fires and cook what he catches. It's wet and cold. When they go on the run for three days and nights, a hunter force is let loose to capture them.

---

Ray Mears (born 1964) is a British author and TV presenter on the subject of bushcraft and survival techniques. He grew up in Southern England, and started tracking foxes at a young age. It was his Judo teacher who gave him the idea to learn survival skills. He has been teaching survival skills since 1983, when he founded the "Woodlore" School of Wilderness Bushcraft. His Outdoor Survival Handbook was published in 1990, and his first TV appearance was in 1993 in the BBC2 series Tracks.

His presentation style is often praised as authoritative but relaxed and friendly. His love of his subject and his sense of communion with nature are evident in his programmes, as is his respect for indigenous cultures. He has developed something of a cult following amongst students in the United Kingdom.

Ray Mears has become synonymous with survival and wilderness bushcraft through his television series Tracks, World of Survival, The Essential Guide to Rocks, and Extreme Survival. He spent his life leaning these skills and is a master of the subject.

Wanting to be able to sleep out on the trail and unable to afford camping equipment, he resorted to a Robinson Crusoe approach to solving the problem.

Digesting every scrap of information relating to survival that he could find in his local library, he soon began to re-learn skills that had not been employed on the North Downs for hundreds of years.

Since those early days Ray has expanded his horizons by travelling the world. He has won the friendship of many nations and been privileged to accompany many tribes while hunting, tracking and searching for wild plants and medicine.

In his early twenties Ray founded his company Woodlore, through which he trains both military and civilian audiences the skills of survival.
